Welcome to the Friends of the San Diego Public Library
The Friends of the San Diego Public Library (FSDPL) is a §501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation which is comprised of Friends’ chapters at each of the 37 branch libraries in the City of San Diego — 35 affiliate chapters, which share our tax identification number, plus two associate chapters which are separately incorporated. The Friends of the San Diego Public Library:
- raises funds to support our libraries and programs system-wide;
- holds a monthly weekend-long book sale to generate income;
- engages in library advocacy;
- recognizes volunteers from all 37 chapters at its annual meeting;
- and provides structure and support for the 35 affiliate chapters.

Our Mission
The Mission of the Friends of the San Diego Public Library is to enhance the San Diego Public Library System so that it may fulfill its literary, educational, technological, community, and cultural purposes.

Book Sale Volunteer Opportunity
The legendary monthly weekend-long book sale sponsored by the Friends of the San Diego Public Library is back! We're seeking additional volunteers to join our team of enthusiastic book and library lovers in processing, sorting, and shelving incoming donations on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays between 9 AM and 12 noon each week.
