John McAllister Memorial
Library Scholarship
The Friends of the San Diego Public Library is pleased to announce that two John McAllister Memorial Library Scholarships
have been awarded for the 2019-2020 fiscal year!
Shampree Fritz will receive a $1000 educational scholarship and Linda Dami will receive a $500 educational scholarship
to assist them as they continue work toward an M.L.I.S. degree.
Congratulations to these dedicated library staff members!
The John McAllister Memorial Library Scholarships are awarded annually by the Friends of the San Diego Public Library (FSDPL) to
1) a full- or part-time library employee who is enrolled in a college Certificate Program or Degree Program (Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's)
in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field, and
2) to facilitate the attendance of a library staff member at a library-related conference.
Watch for an announcement in early 2021 of the application period for the 2020-21 McAllister scholarships.
The scholarship program was established by FSDPL in 2012 to honor the memory of John McAllister, who served as FSDPL President from 2009 to 2011.
John believed that both quality library staff and the FSDPL are integral parts of a successful San Diego Public Library System.
